Creation of the MAB

Creation of the Museum Amoureux de la Bretagne (MAB), built on a global programmatic vision that is both historical and architectural, telling the story of this 17th-century shipowners’ house before and after its restoration, in collaboration with heritage architects.

Soft opening expected end 2028 and for all publics spring 2029

Étape 1

2024-2026
Setup

  • The building was acquired with own funds by the "SCI de la Portenoire", a company created specifically for this purpose.
  • Presentation of the MAB concept to the Town Hall of Roscoff.
  • Selection of the accounting firm.
  • Creation of the association "Les Amis du Musée Amoureux de la Bretagne".
  • Establishment of the first communication tools (website, email, etc.).
  • Selection of a young team of heritage architects (Atelier Atlas).
  • Development of the Scientific and Cultural Project (PSC) of the MAB and programming.
Étape 2

2026-2028
Restoration & Outlook

  • Two years of works plus a few additional months for installations (panels, videos, etc.). 
  • Active search for financial support to contribute to the cost of works (institutions, heritage lottery, patronage, etc.).
  • Formulation and preparation of resources, particularly human and financial.
  • Formation of the five expert committees of the association (scientific, partnerships, grants & patronage, communication and visitor experience).
  • Setting up the shop (IT tools, ticketing, merchandising in partnership with local suppliers, etc.).
  • Obtaining museum and tourism accreditations.
  • Building permit obtained May 2026.
