The Association

"Les Amis du MAB" is a non-profit association whose sole purpose is to support the restoration and development works on the historic building, to protect and maintain it, and to operate and develop the museum that will be open to the public.

 
Organisation

The Board of Directors and the Expert Committees

The Association is governed by a board of directors; day-to-day operations are managed by five committees made up of members with recognised expertise.
The expert committees are structured as follows:

 

Partnerships

The Partnerships Committee focuses on establishing and maintaining partnerships with various foundations and organisations. Its aim is to foster collaborations that strengthen the Association's initiatives and reach.

 

Grants & Patronage

This committee is dedicated to securing grants and patronage from public and private institutions. It manages relationships with benefactors and ensures that the Association receives financial support for its projects and operations.

 

Communications

Responsible for both digital and physical communications, this committee manages the website, social media channels and the Association's external communications. It ensures regular updates and maintains media relations to promote the MAB's visibility.

 

Scientific

The Scientific Committee is made up of experts in art history, history, architecture and heritage. Its role is to oversee the Association's scientific perspectives. It organises an annual prize and guarantees the scientific integrity of projects, guiding research and innovation within the organisation.

 

Visitor Experience

Focusing on both physical and digital visitor experiences, this committee strives to improve visitor engagement and satisfaction. It works to enhance accessibility and clarity, ensuring a high-quality experience for all visitors.

Arnaud Leclercq

Professional background
A career banker who lived in Switzerland and spent 30 years working across Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Turkey and Africa.
Academic background
Collège Stanislas. Master's in Law. MBA HEC Paris. Harvard Business School. State Doctorate, Sorbonne Paris I. Has taught geopolitics at HEC Paris for over a decade.
Connection to the project
Born on the shores of the English Channel, married in Roscoff in 1995, and deeply in love with Brittany, he has long been involved in various local projects and associations in the fields of forestry, heritage and history.

Connection to the project
Born d'Herbais, her family has been rooted in the history of Roscoff for many generations — notably Nicolas de La Portenoire (1589–1651), a captain under King Louis XIII, and the bard Marg'heg Arvor (Eugène d'Herbais, 1864–1936), who wrote the lyrics to the Roscoff anthem Paotred Rosko. Her parents were instrumental in saving the frescoes by the painter Kerga and the old marine cemetery of Roscoff.
The founders' story
Young homeowners from 1996, having rescued the old Manoir de Kerestat in Roscoff from being sold, the couple first rebuilt ruined outbuildings, then spent over 10 years restoring the manor house and its wings with the help of an architect and heritage craftspeople dedicated to quality, before finally rehabilitating the garden — which had once been converted into a campsite — with the help of a meticulous gardener. Coming from families long committed to heritage, with artists across several generations and to this day (Aurélie's mother is the painter Elisabeth Faliu; Arnaud's father is the founder of the Académie lyonnaise de peinture), it is only natural that they wish to share their passion for art and historic heritage with the public — the foundations of our culture and the identity of our territory. Their four children support them in this adventure.
